See We Will Rock You at the Theatre Royal

For anyone wishing to see the hit rock musical We Will Rock You, tickets in Glasgow are going quickly. The musical, which brings together 24 of the legendary rock band Queen's most beloved songs with a storyline crafted by Ben Elton, will run at Glasgow's Theatre Royal from the 9th to the 28th of December 2019. Unlike the recent Oscar award winning film Bohemian Rhapsody, this hit musical does not tell the life story of Queen's enigmatic frontman Freddie Mercury. Instead, anyone who buys tickets to We Will Rock You in Glasgow will enjoy an original story. It's a dystopian future where freedom of expression is no longer common. Musical instruments have been outlawed, while rock and roll and other forms of popular music are lost beneath the sands of time, unknown to all but for a select few. Instead, the iPlanet's rulers are the Globalsoft Corporation who control the minds of the Ga Ga Kids with computer-generated music. It's up to a pair of misfits named Galileo and Scaramouche to break free. The storyline and songs weave together seamlessly thanks to the close collaboration between playwright Ben Elton and original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor. The musical is quite funny too: Elton was a staff writer for the British cult comedy series The Young Ones and Black Adder. Elton also made a name for himself as a cutting-edge stand up comedian and satirist. As for the British rock band Queen, they need no introduction as they have been famous for decades. In fact, their legendary status continues to grow, even though Freddie Mercury passed away in the early 1990s. Generation after generation continues to discover Queen's extensive catalogue. It's a catalogue chock full of fine pop songs, hard rocking jams, mini-operas, and stadium-filling sing alongs. The Theatre Royal in Glasgow is the city's oldest and most prestigious opera house. It's the perfect venue to see this amazing production, but seats are filling up fast. Get a hold of your We Will Rock You in Glasgow Tickets today via TickX to save your spot. It's sure to be the experience of a lifetime.

About

Glasgow’s oldest and longest-running theatre, the Theatre Royal continues to dazzle audiences in Scotland’s largest city. Regularly hosting in-house and touring productions, the Category A listed 1541-capacity theatre is the performance home of Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. The Theatre Royal opened in 1867 under the ownership of theatre entrepreneur James Bayliss and was designed in its current incarnation by the architect C.J. Phipps in 1879. The theatre found itself under the ownership of the production company Howard & Wyndham Ltd for six decades until it was sold to Scottish Television (STV) in 1957, becoming the ITV network’s main Scottish home. The venue was bought by Scottish Opera with public support in 1974 and remains under the same ownership today, although the management of the theatre is now overseen by AMG. As the home theatre of Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet the Theatre Royal is the undisputed place in Scotland to catch quality opera and ballet productions. Outside of opera and ballet, the theatre presents a wide variety of shows including drama, pantomime, musicals, comedy and children’s performances. With recent visitors to the Theatre Royal including Dylan Moran and Frankie Boyle, a quality night’s entertainment is guaranteed.
