See Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre

What happens when you put a team of talented women together? Magic! Waitress is the product of a female-led creative team and one of the hottest new musicals around. Following the success of Waitress on Broadway, the musical has now settled in London’s West End at the Adelphi Theatre. The prestigious dream team stylishly recreated Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film ‘Waitress’, into an intelligently witty and warm musical. It tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker stuck in an abusive marriage. After falling pregnant, Jenna’s boss convinces her to enter a baking contest. With the prize money, she could escape her husband and start a new life. And so the baking marathons begin…With a combined recipe of friendship, romance and laughter, Waitress has all the ingredients of a delightful musical. Seven-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles is behind ‘one of the best scores in years’ (The Stage). Some of the best tracks of the show include ‘Opening Up’, ‘She Used to Be Mine’ and ‘Everything Changes’. The songs take you on a whirlwind of emotions through fun upbeat pop and tender, tear-jerking ballads. With such a relatable set of songs, Bareilles’ score takes us through Jenna’s journey of evolving into a confident, independent woman. Waitress made history for being the first all-female creative team. In addition to Bareilles, is Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus, screenwriter Jessie Nelson and choreographer Lorin Latarro. Paulus describes it as a “historic and long overdue moment for Broadway and I’m honoured to be working alongside such passionate and inspiring women.” The delicious musical will have you singing and smiling all night long, so serve up a slice of Waitress today with tickets to the West End production.

About

Nestled into the Strand in the City of Westminster is one of London's most famous West End theatres and had stood for over 200 years. It was first founded in 1806 as the San Pareil and put on a variety of pantomimes and musical entertainments, rebranding under its present name in 1819. The theatre as we know it today opened in 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Evergreen, with theatre-great Andrew Lloyd taking it under his wing as a new co-owner in 1993 and debuting his 'Sunset Boulevard'. Other famed productions at the Adelphi include Ivor Novello's 'The Dancing Years', 'Bless the Bride' and 'Me and my Girl', with the Olivier Award winning musical 'Kinky Boots' showing now.
