Found smack bang in the middle of the Great Yorkshire Fringe site, The Tea Pot is the place to go for finding up-and-coming comedians. This little pop-up theatre with stars on its ceiling is the site of the annual festival’s New Comedian of the Year competition.
The Tea Pot has been a fixture of the festival since the very start, having featured in the inaugural version of the festival in 2016. Visitors here can follow the New Comedian of the Year competition from the very start, from the initial heats all the way to the final. Recent winners of the competition, which is open to non-professional acts who have been performing for fewer than 5 years, include Jack Gleadow.
In addition to the New Comedian of the Year competition, The Tea Pot always attracts a fine set of comedians who are slightly further along in their careers. As the Great Yorkshire Fringe takes place each July, the Tea Pot is a good place to catch your favourite comedians ahead of their shows at the Edinburgh Fringe each August.
