About

The award-winning Tara Theatre is one of London's most welcoming theatres. This cosy 100-capacity theatre in Earlsfield, Wandsworth, founded by the British Asian community, offers an inviting space for multicultural storytelling. Pick your Tara Theatre tickets here via TickX.

The Tara theatre company was founded by the British Asian community of Wandsworth in 1976. This came amidst the backdrop of the racist murder of a Sikh boy. The company stagied its first production - the anti-war play Sacrifice - at Battersea Arts Centre in 1977. From there, its mission to make connections across cultures via theatre has only grown. The company quickly found a home on Garratt Lane where it still resides today.

Tara Theatre remains an essential part of London's cultural life as Britain's first multicultural theatre. The theatre focuses on developing the talents of Asian performers, writers and directors, staging comedy, plays, musicals and more. Tara has co-produced shows with a range of theatres nationwide, such as the National Theatre and Contact. It has also toured shows extensively across the UK and the world. The theatre is blessed to have many famous patrons including Hanif Kureishi and Sir Salman Rushdie.

Tara Theatre has two performance spaces: its 100 seater main theatre and its 30 seater studio theatre. Tara's main theatre is easy to recognise with its bright red plush seats. Its London brick and oak wood walls make it a memorable place to catch any big show. Its intimate studio theatre, meanwhile, is a charming space for smaller performances and workshops. Tara's foyer bar and outdoor patio also holds occasional events.

A proudly multicultural space, any performance seen at the Tara Theatre is sure to offer an intimate, eye-opening insight into Asian culture. Why not check out which shows are coming up at Tara Theatre soon? You can find the best Tara Theatre tickets right here at TickX.
