Artrix is Bromsgrove’s finest arts venue. Situated just outside of Bromsgrove town centre in the heart of Worcestershire, Artrix hosts a wide variety of artistic performances including live music, stand-up comedy, theatre and dance, as well as film screenings. Artrix was constructed between 2004 and 2005 on a green field site on School Drive in Bromsgrove. The venue’s main theatre has an intimate capacity of 300, making it ideally suited for hosting hard-hitting plays and raucous musicals alike. Since 2013 the building’s rehearsal room and dance studio has been used as a studio theatre which hosts small scale theatre, music and spoken word performances. Artrix also boasts its own art gallery which spans the building’s three floors. Artrix takes its commitment to its local community seriously, hosting events by local community groups – including an annual Christmas pantomime - as well as spoken word talks. The arts centre also has its own Learning and Engagement department through which it co-ordinates projects such as a youth theatre group. Artrix may not serve a large city but it has an admirable ability to attract big names, particularly from the name of comedy. Recent visitors to the arts centre include Stewart Francis, Dane Baptiste and Lee Hurst. With a wide-ranging programme and a delightful café-bar for refreshments, Artrix is a must-visit in Bromsgrove for the artistically minded.
