The largest purpose-built entertainment venue in Essex, Cliffs Pavilion is one of the South East’s hubs of variety entertainment. Based in the Westcliff-on-Sea suburb of Southend, the Cliffs Pavilion is renowned for putting on a wide variety of shows including concerts, ballet, opera, and musicals, hosting up to 300 performances a year.
Since it opened in 1963 the Cliffs Pavilion has shown its ability to attract musicians at the peak of their powers. Paul McCartney chose the Cliffs Pavilion as the location of one of six secret shows for its Unplugged tour in 1991, while Oasis’s Live By The Sea DVD was filmed there in 1996. The venue also attracts top-name touring musical productions such as Riverdance, The Bodyguard and Starlight Express.
The main auditorium has a seated capacity in 1,657 (2,250 standing) while its two other rooms have a capacity of a few hundred people each, offering a more intimate event.
