About

Named after the Earl of Leicester, Simon De Montfort, the Hall is one of the city’s largest and oldest entertainment sites. The indoor auditorium welcomes many acts from the genres of drama, dance, comedy, music and more, while its outdoor amphitheatre is a great place to relish the arts under the summer sun.

The De Montfort Hall has such an elegant aura that it regularly attracts local classical groups, such as the Leicester Philharmonic Choir and the Leicester Symphony Orchestra. But the Hall is not confined one type of audience, where many enjoy its range of festivals, including the annual Hindu festival of Navratri, the Summer Sundae festival and The Big Session Festival. It has also welcomed many high-profile artists such as Frank Sinatra, ACDC, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

The Hall dates back to the early 20th century, where construction was completed in 1913. It contains a flexible auditorium to cater to its versatile programme, alongside four bars for dining options. Visitors can also witness the only surviving organ of local organ manufacturers, Stephen Taylor and Son Ltd.
