About

A welcome addition to Manchester’s vibrant and colourful music scene, The Stoller Hall combines intimacy and closeness with spectacular design and supreme technical attributes. This RIBA award-winning venue is part of Chetham’s School of Music and first opened its doors to the public in spring 2017.

Whether you’re into jazz, folk or classical music, or enjoy comedy, The Stoller Hall is a venue that will impress audiences with diverse tastes. It boasts stunning architecture designed by Stephenson STUDIO and outstanding acoustics by Arup. The venue has even become popular for business events and conferences, attracting reputable clients to take advantage of its facilities.

One of the Hall’s core purposes is to provide an outstanding performance platform for students at Chetham’s School of Music - a prestigious school in the centre of Manchester offering a world-class education in music. Their Symphony Orchestra regularly showcase the talent of the school, taking to the Stoller stage for unforgettable performances.

Since opening with a live broadcast of the BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’, recent performances include concerts by the Unthanks, jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock and scandi-pop starlet Susanne Sundfør, a two-week International Piano Series and multi-concert residencies with Manchester Collective and Manchester Camerata.

Seating

The Stoller Hall’s modern wood-panelled auditorium can seat 482 people in total and is organised into three spaces: the balcony, the gallery and the stalls.

The stalls hold the majority of the hall’s seating and offer a fantastic view no matter where you sit. The stalls are fully accessible via step-free aisles and handrails and also boast eight wheelchair spaces, allowing all visitors to enjoy the show in comfort.

Behind and above The Stoller Hall’s stalls, a small balcony offers a bird’s-eye view of the stage, while the cosy choir gallery behind the stage is also open for select performances if you want to get up close and personal with the action.

Also within the Stoller Hall building is the Carole Nash Hall, a more intimate but just as atmospheric 100-seater space which is often used for smaller performances.

Where is it and how do I get there?

Handily, The Stoller Hall sits on Hunt’s Bank in Manchester city centre, just opposite Manchester Victoria train station and a stone’s throw from Manchester Arena. That makes it extremely easy to get to by public transport and by private vehicle alike.

Manchester Victoria station runs train services from across the region and offers direct Metrolink tram access to and from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester’s largest train station. The Stoller Hall is also minutes away from Shudehill bus station and the main bus station at Piccadilly Gardens.

Meanwhile, people looking to drive to The Stoller Hall are all entitled to discounted parking in the multi-storey car park Q-Park Deansgate North, which can be found around 400 metres away from the venue.

Where to stay

The Stoller Hall is blessed by its central location in Manchester city centre, meaning there is no shortage of places to stay in its immediate vicinity. There are four Travelodges located within half a mile of Stoller Hall, and many other hotels just a short walk away.

If all else fails, you can always try Airbnb which often offers lower prices than regular hotels, particularly if you’re trying to find somewhere to stay at short notice. Make sure to check the widget below to find places nearby with Stay22.

Access Information

The Stoller Hall is proud of being a fully accessible venue as all modern performance spaces should be. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users and features tactile signage for visually impaired visitors. It is currently planning to install an infra-red hearing system for hearing impaired visitors.

The venue offers free tickets for companions, and concession tickets (usually 20%) for full time students, those under the age of 19 and over the age of 65. Fulfilling its duty as a specialist music venue for secondary school age children, the Stoller Hall also offers reduced price family and group tickets.
