A leading entertainment venue in Merseyside, the M&S Bank Arena draws the biggest names in music, comedy and sport to Liverpool. It first opened in 2008 when the city was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture, and has since attracted the likes of The Who, Beyonce, Noel Gallagher Elton John and local legend, Sir Paul McCartney.
Despite its enormous 11,000 capacity, many flock to the arena for its prominent positioning on the Kings Dock, gazing out on to the World Heritage Waterfront. It’s easily connected by public transport links and offers a large car park for up to 16,000, and is further surrounded by many amenities. Visitors to the arena can also find its sister venue, the Exhibition Centre Liverpool, close by. Since opening, over five million event-goers have enjoyed the Echo Arena’s fantastic location and facilities.
While the venue itself is impressive and celebrates Liverpool’s iconic regeneration, visitors are primarily impressed by its star-studded lineup. High profile acts consistently feature in its programme, while other unique events, such as the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards and BBC Sports Personality 2017, sell out the arena.
The M&S Bank Arena has done wonders for the Merseyside metropolis, bringing in employment opportunities and driving economic growth of the region. In its first year of opening, over 600,000 visitors to the venue saw over £200 million contribute to the city’s development, showcasing its stature and significance in the progression of Liverpool’s cultural scene.
