The Princess Theatre is the flagship entertainment venue of the Devon seaside town of Torquay. Built by Torbay Council in the early 1960s, the 1500-capacity Princess Theatre hosts a variety of touring productions, attracting productions as eclectic as comedy, concerts, opera, ballet and West End musicals to the English Riviera.
The Princess Theatre saw its grand opening on Wednesday 7 June 1961 as Morecambe & Wise and Tommy Cooper delighted audiences with a laugh-out-loud show. Over the years many a famous UK artist has graced the Princess Theatre’s stage, from the Beatles to Cilla Black, while Grease, Chicago and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are just a few of the famous West End musicals to have been staged at the theatre.
As with other seaside resort theatres, the Princess Theatre is famous for its summer season programming, offering a range of light entertainment and family variety shows. Take a look below to see and compare ticket prices for upcoming events at the Princess Theatre.
