About

Manchester’s award-winning Hope Mill Theatre is one of England’s most successful and reputable independent venues. The theatre only opened its doors in November 2015 but is renowned for being a fantastic producing theatre capable of rivalling any theatre off London’s West End.

Based in a former mill, Hope Mill Theatre was founded by Joseph Houston and William Whelton in 2015. The theatre is inspired by London’s Off West End and the capital’s high number of producing theatres, as it aims to showcase emerging talents in Manchester’s theatre scene. It didn't take long for the theatre to receive high acclaim, as it won Fringe Venue of the Year in the Stage Awards in 2018.

Hope Mill Theatre’s versatile performance space is where you will catch all the action, and the space is known for changing drastically to suit the shows it holds. With an intimate seating capacity of 120 people, you can rest assured that there’s no risk of you missing a second of a show. As a producing theatre, Hope Mill Theatre not only puts on its own shows but also welcomes touring shows into its space - one recent example is Richard Thomas and Stewart Lee’s Jerry Springer: The Opera.

Hope Mill Theatre also features a cosy restaurant and bar area which is open starting an hour and a half prior to performances. If you want to munch down on a pizza and enjoy Hope Mill’s fine selection of wines and craft beers, don’t miss out on it.
