Tottenham Hotspur F.C. is one of London’s most prestigious football clubs. Based in Tottenham, north London, Tottenham have competed in the Premier League since its inception and regularly qualify for continental competitions. Nicknamed Spurs or the Lilywhites, the club plays at the newly-built Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur was founded in 1882 and won the FA Cup in 1901 prior to its entry to the Football League. The club remains the only one in history to achieve this feat. Spurs achieved its first sustained period of success in the early 1960s under manager Bill Nicholson, winning the first League and Cup Double of the 20th Century in 1960-61 and becoming the first British club to win a UEFA club competition in 1963, the Cup Winners’ Cup.
Since its early heyday Tottenham has remained consistent in picking up trophies, winning at least one major trophy every decade from the 1950s to the 2000s while contesting the North London derby with their main rivals Arsenal.
After decades of living in Arsenal’s shadow, Tottenham are currently the top dog in North London, finishing ahead of Arsenal in the league two years in a row. Currently boasting their best team in decades and consistently challenging for honours, Spurs are one of the silkiest teams to watch in the Premier League.
