The Georgia-born country singer had not imagined having a musical career. He grew up listening to his famous father, Rhett Akins Sr. make country music, but went on to study Business and Communications at Lipscomb University in Nashville. There he found his passion for music, dropping out at aged 20 and signing his a record deal a year later with Big Machine Records. Rhett is now recognised in his own right, with tracks such as ‘Marry Me’ and ‘Die a Happy Man’, a chart-topping third album ‘Life Changes’, and a host of musical awards.
Rhett received the ‘Vocalist of the Year’ title at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2017 and ‘Song of the Year’ in the Country Music Association Awards. His track ‘Die a Happy Man’ and album ‘Life Changes’ featuring tracks such as ‘Craving You’ featuring Maren Morris also made him a Grammy nominee, cementing his name as a top musical artist from the country genre.
The country singer is far from lacking ambition. He has written songs for other artists such as Jason Aldean, Michael Ray and Florida Georgia Line, and expressed his passion for fashion. Inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and other greats, it’s no wonder Rhett has a flair for success.
