Led by Mike Skinner, The Streets are an alternative hip-hop group from Birmingham who rose to fame in 2002 with their smash hit album Original Pirate Material. Skinner's punchy lyrics and social commentary saw their debut album echo the hearts of the modern day youth, leading their album to earn critical acclaim and nominations for the Mercury Prize and several BRIT Awards. The album became a reality after the Locked On label - who found success with The Artful Dodger featuring Craig David, released Has It Come to This? under the pseudonym The Streets, reaching #18 on the UK charts.
The iconic British project followed up their breakthrough album with A Grand Don't Come for Free, which spawned some of their most popular tracks including Fit But Your Know It. The Streets kept the rest of the decade filled with music, putting out several more releases before the end of 2011 when they put out their "final" album Computers and Blues.
