Janelle Monáe is a force of nature in music right now. A rapper, a singer, an acclaimed actress - there is nothing she can't do. Her work sees her explore femininity, the black experience and equality in a no-holds-barred fashion of poignant yet cutting lyrics. She made her debut in 2007 with 'Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase)', and has gone to create critically acclaimed pieces of not just music, but art in her albums 'The ArchAndroid', 'The Electric Lady' and her most recent 'Dirty Computer'. Monáe's music has earned her several Grammy Award nominations, as well as a multitude of collaborations with artists like fun., Brendon Urie, Erykah Badu, Miguel, Solange and Grimes. But Monáe's work extends into the medium of film as well, having appeared in stand out films like 'Rio 2', 'Moonlight' and 'Hidden Figures'.
