September is perhaps one of the most important week for university students. Freshers’ Week is the long tradition of boozing, partying and absolutely no studying (unless you’re a parent of a student reading this in which case TickX denies any accountability). It’s the time to make friends, and get to know your future study buddies. For returning students, Freshers’ Week is still a whole lot of fun, and makes September a little sweeter to take.

But September in Manchester isn’t just parties and club nights, there’s a wide range of things going on. Theatre season is often up and running with some top shows to see. Cultural events like the Food and Drink Festival return to the city centre. And with it being Manchester, the coolest cosmopolitan city of the UK, there’s gigs, sports, comedy and much more. Take a look at the variety of events happening in Manchester this September here:

A trip to the theatre can be a great way to get rid of those back to school blues. Across Manchester’s theatres, the programme caters to children, romantics, those who love a good laugh. From comedies to thrillers, the Lowry, Palace, Opera House, Home and more can be a great escape this September.

Manchester Food and Drink Festival

At the end of September, one of Manchester’s most exciting events for foodies takes place in Albert Square. The festival showcases the city’s culinary scene, and attracts top chefs and big names in the industry. Even Gordon Ramsey took time away from cursing and frowning to revel in Manchester’s fantastic food fair over the years. So come with friends and empty bellies and enjoy this September.

I love that I can find tickets at face value in a different venue when everyone else assumes it’s sold out. I go to gigs several times a year and always use this site now!
