Best Events in July in Manchester

July is usually the hottest month of the year in Manchester. It’s the perfect (if not the only) time for BBQs, sunbathing and soaking up the rainy city’s summer vibes. July marks the end of school term and the beginning of festival season, and of course, a whole lot of graduation parties to look forward to.

The month is full of fun events, from mega club nights to great gigs. With football holding off until late August, Manchester’s stadiums are free for huge musical acts on tour. In and around the city, Sounds of the City, Bluedot and Festwich bring more delights for music fans. While Manchester International Festival and The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival celebrate more from the performing arts.

The last week of July is usually an explosion of children’s events. Schools have closed for six weeks so museums and local attractions bring on family-friendly activities. If you didn’t manage to book any holidays this summer, Manchester has countless events in July to keep you busy.

Festivals in July this Manchester

Everyone knows about Pride and Parklife, but in between the two popular events are some fantastic festivals. Your passion might be science, drama or comedy, or perhaps you just love discovering something new. Manchester’s July festivals are brimming with culture and colour, and best of all – there’s fairly inexpensive. Head out of town to Jodrell Bank for Bluedot, or go straight to the epicenter as Albert Square is taken over by MIF.

Graduation parties and club nights

Make sure you have some fabulous clothes on underneath that cap and gown, because it will soon be time to party! Home to a handful of universities, Manchester is a city made for students. So it’s only natural that graduating in the city is unforgettable, with bars and clubs hosting themed nights for students to bid farewell to university life.

Family-friendly events in the summer holidays

The children always look forward to the summer holidays, but we know the same doesn’t always go for parents. It can often be a little daunting when you have to map out six weeks of activities. But luckily Manchester is well equipped to get the job done. Its interactive museums and theatre trips are great for when the sun fails to show up, while zoos, parks and festivals are great fun under the sun. For more inspiration, our family events guide in Manchester brings more ideas.

I love that I can find tickets at face value in a different venue when everyone else assumes it’s sold out. I go to gigs several times a year and always use this site now!
