See Heathers the Musical at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre

Greetings and Salutations Dublin, Heathers the Musical is coming to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for some teen revelry and murderous debauchery. Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe’s (Legally Blonde) adaptation of the cult film starring Winona Ryder, Shannen Doherty and Christian Slater is one you don’t want to miss!

Journey back to Westerberg High in 1988, where Veronica becomes seduced by the popular clique, the cruel and cold-blooded Heathers gang. Longing to be one of the cool kids, Veronica joins the Heathers and transitions from just another nobody to ruling the school. That’s until the rebellious new student JD shows up - ready to show Veronica how to take down the Heathers for good.

The teenage killer thriller is full of unforgettable numbers, including ‘Seventeen’, ‘Dead Girl Walking’ and ‘Freeze Your Brain’. It’s the rock musical that keeps on giving, with dazzling shoulder-padded costumes and gory twists!

After premiering in Los Angeles in 2010, the musical has scooped up awards for Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Carrie Hope Fletcher’s West End performance in London. It’s toured Australia, Broadway and sets off on its first ever UK tour in 2020.

Venue Details

The idea for the Bord Gais Energy Theatre first came about in the early nineties, where there was a huge demand for more theatre in Ireland's capital but not enough venues to house it. By 2001, the idea had become a reality and development began in 2007, opening in 2010 with the Russian State Ballet and members from the Bolshoi performing ‘Swan Lake’.

Since then, the venue has continued to diversify the events in Dublin, bringing in more and more theatre, ballet, drama, concerts, and opera to the city! It has attracted over 500,000 visitors annually, thanks to its spectacular programme and being the largest theatre in the country.

The majority of its performances are West End musicals and shows, arguably because it contains the only stage in the country capable of receiving West End productions from London. It has welcomed award-winning theatre, such as ‘Jersey Boys’ and ‘Wicked’, and ‘The Lion King’, in addition to other memorable performances such as TEDxDublin in 2014 and RTÉ Centenary' in 2016.

The Bord Gais Energy Theatre is a visually stunning building for theatre-goers. From its striking glass facade to its Piranesian interior, there’s much to be admired, which only adds to the visitor’s experience.
