See Fame the Musical at the Peterborough New Theatre

Finding stardom has never been more thrilling, as the performing arts students of New York take you on a rollercoaster ride of romance, passion and heartbreak. The 1980’s cult movie was transformed into a magical stage adaptation back in 1988, and now ‘Fame The Musical’ returns to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. The story features the same highs and lows of adolescence as the movie, but was reimagined by David De Silva with new plots and characters for stage. In this highly-anticipated anniversary tour, Keith Jack, runner up in BBC 1’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’ will take on the role of Nick, the multi-talented singer, actress, presenter… Mica Paris will play Miss Sherman, and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter will evoke the beloved Iris. Despite changes in its evolution over the years, Fame The Musical has maintained an envious score. Audiences will enjoy the Oscar-winning title song - ‘Fame’ written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore, alongside a whole lot of singing and dancing. The production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, and brought to you by the team behind 'Footloose', 'Flashdance' and 'Little Shop of Horrors', Selladoor Productions.

Peterborough New Theatre is one of Cambridgeshire’s largest theatres. Founded in the aftermath of Peterborough’s Broadway Theatre, Peterborough New Theatre’s 1,140-seater auditorium hosts national tours of drama, music, comedy and film. You can search for the best Peterborough New Theatre tickets here at TickX. The Peterborough New Theatre started life as an Odeon cinema in 1937. That makes it one of the oldest Odeon cinemas in the country. The theatre remained in use as a cinema until 1991 before it was redeveloped and reopened as the Broadway Theatre in 2001. This redevelopment saw the restoration of the theatre’s original Art Deco interior. Its main auditorium also gained a new platform stage. Over the last decade the Peterborough New Theatre has survived a difficult time. In 2009 a fire damaged the building, leading it to host only choir rehearsals and winter seasons. The theatre also survived a threat of redevelopment and multiple changes of ownership. As of March 2019 the theatre is managed by the touring theatre company Sellador Worldwide. Today the Peterborough New Theatre hosts a wide range of touring productions. These include smash-hit musicals like Avenue Q, classic plays like The Mousetrap and pantomimes like The Wizard of Oz. The theatre also attracts famous comedians and musicians doing the rounds on their national tours. Aside from its stunning main auditorium, the Peterborough New Theatre also features a large event and function room above the theatre. The room, the Boizot Lounge, takes its name from the late Peterborough philanthropist Peter Boizot. The Boizot Lounge is the theatre's space for smaller productions, meetings and other events. There are few more impressive entertainment venues in Cambridgeshire than the Peterborough New Theatre.
