See Fame the Musical at the Peacock Theatre London

Finding stardom has never been more thrilling, as the performing arts students of New York take you on a rollercoaster ride of romance, passion and heartbreak. The 1980’s cult movie was transformed into a magical stage adaptation back in 1988, and now ‘Fame The Musical’ returns to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. The story features the same highs and lows of adolescence as the movie, but was reimagined by David De Silva with new plots and characters for stage. In this highly-anticipated anniversary tour, Keith Jack, runner up in BBC 1’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’ will take on the role of Nick, the multi-talented singer, actress, presenter… Mica Paris will play Miss Sherman, and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter will evoke the beloved Iris. Despite changes in its evolution over the years, Fame The Musical has maintained an envious score. Audiences will enjoy the Oscar-winning title song - ‘Fame’ written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore, alongside a whole lot of singing and dancing. The production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, and brought to you by the team behind 'Footloose', 'Flashdance' and 'Little Shop of Horrors', Selladoor Productions.

About

Celebrated for its world-class dance performances, the Peacock Theatre is Sadler’s Wells’ principal centre and West End venue. It also hosts legendary operas, concerts and musicals, in addition to various events, conferences and lectures held by the London School of Economics. The Peacock is located on historical grounds, where the former Vere Street Theatre stood. The Vere marked the first performance by a woman on an English theatre stage, where Margaret Hughes took on the role of Desdemona in Shakespeare’s Othello in 1960. The theatre acclaimed other legends in its history - notably the ghost of Flipper the dolphin. The urban myth states that during the 1970s, a dolphin was kept in the water tank underneath the stage for aquatic shows. Due to neglect, the dolphin passed away, but continues to be remembered as one of the theatre’s ghosts. Over the years, the Peacock also provided the venue for the recording of TV show ‘This is Your Life’, before undertaking new ownership by the London School of Economics. The new owners provided its current name, which derived from its alumnus, and use the facility during the daytime. It boasts a 999-seat capacity, divided into two tiers, stalls and a circle.
