See Fame the Musical at the The Queen's Theatre

Finding stardom has never been more thrilling, as the performing arts students of New York take you on a rollercoaster ride of romance, passion and heartbreak. The 1980’s cult movie was transformed into a magical stage adaptation back in 1988, and now ‘Fame The Musical’ returns to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. The story features the same highs and lows of adolescence as the movie, but was reimagined by David De Silva with new plots and characters for stage. In this highly-anticipated anniversary tour, Keith Jack, runner up in BBC 1’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’ will take on the role of Nick, the multi-talented singer, actress, presenter… Mica Paris will play Miss Sherman, and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter will evoke the beloved Iris. Despite changes in its evolution over the years, Fame The Musical has maintained an envious score. Audiences will enjoy the Oscar-winning title song - ‘Fame’ written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore, alongside a whole lot of singing and dancing. The production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, and brought to you by the team behind 'Footloose', 'Flashdance' and 'Little Shop of Horrors', Selladoor Productions.

The Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple continues the North Devon town’s association with theatre. The 680-seater theatre has been open in its current form since 1993 and hosts around 300 performances a year including theatre, music, comedy, dance, opera and pantomime. Read further for the best Queen's Theatre Barnstaple tickets. Barnstaple obtained its first theatre in 1760, hundreds of years after the first sign of theatrical events in the town. By 1832 the theatre had to close. However, just a few years later, it was replaced just a few years later by the Grecian Hall, which was later renamed the Theatre Royal. Although that venue later stopped operating too, along with a local music hall, the pair both re-opened by 1897. The pair of venues operated simultaneously until the Theatre Royal closed prior to World War I. The now Albert Hall accidentally burnt down in 1941. In 1952 it reopened under the new name the Queen’s Hall. While it wasn’t quite as grand inside, the Queen’s Hall did its job, serving up live entertainment for Barnstaple residents for over forty years. In 1993 North Devon Council decided to fully refurbish the building. It has remained known as the Queen’s Theatre ever since. Since 2018, Selladoor Worldwide is responsible for managing the Queen's Theatre, as well as The Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe. Today, you can rely on the Queen's Theatre to host top entertainment. From touring comedians and top-quality musicals to hilarious pantomimes for all the family to enjoy, this theatre has everything you need for a quality night out. This local theatre truly makes a mark on the North Devon regional landscape. Simply put, you'll enjoy few finer experiences in North Devon than at the Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple.
