About

Based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book, The Snail and the Whale tells the heartwarming tale of a young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine a tiny snail’s trip around the world. Pick up your The Snail and the Whale tickets here at TickX. The Snail and the Whale tells the story of a tiny snail longing to see the world who hitches a ride on the tail of a giant humpback whale. The pair set off on an incredible journey together, but when the whale ends up being beached, how will the snail save him? The Snail and the Whale is based on the picture book of the same name which was published in 2003. Renowned for its whimsical rhymes reminiscent of Edward Lear, the book has won many awards including the 2004 Early Years award for best pre-school book and the 2007 Giverny Award for Best Science Picture Book. The book has also been adapted into an audiobook read by Imelda Staunton and David Tennant. This marvellous stage adaptation of the book for children aged four and up has been brought to life by Tall Stories, the Olivier Award-nominated theatre company behind stage hits such as The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom. Rest assured that there will be live music, great storytelling and hilarious comedy that the whole family can enjoy. Tall Families first adapted The Snail and the Whale for a stage setting in 2012. Since then the theatre company’s delightful adaptation has been taken on tour across the UK and across the world, spreading joy wherever it has gone. In 2019 The Snail and the Whale will be taking over the Apollo Theatre on London’s West End this Christmas. Book your tickets for the Snail and the Whale now for the perfect Christmas outing! You’re sure to have a whale of a time.
