About

## **An energetic young cast bring a different side to the 2014 Trojan Horse Inquiry to life in this critically acclaimed play about religion, sexuality, politics and what we really mean by ‘British Values’.** *'Why should I continue to be tolerant? When the world has been so intolerant of me.’* The Trojan Horse Inquiry was a local story that hit the national press, accusing ‘hardline’ Muslim teachers and governors of plotting extremism in Birmingham schools. Drawing on over 200 hours of interviews with teachers, students, parents and governors, critically-acclaimed theatre company **LUNG** investigates what really happened. Originally developed with Leeds Playhouse, this Amnesty International Freedom of Expression & Fringe First Award-winning production is the story of a community torn apart by racial division, ‘British values’ and the culture of Prevent. *Trojan Horse* aims to open up a dialogue, and every performance will be followed by a post-show discussion chaired by Madiha Ansari with Professor John Holmwood, an expert witness at the Trojan Horse trials, and other guest panellists from a range of disciplines\*.\* Themes will range from Queerness and Religion, Islamophobia in the UK, The Power of the Media, and Education Policy. Urdu translation is available through headsets for every performance. If you would like to use this service, please book your ticket as normal, and [contact LUNG’s engagement manager, Madiha Ansari,](mailto:madiha.ansari.khan@gmail.com) to reserve a headset. **LUNG**’s previous productions include *The 56, Chilcot*, *E15* and *Who Cares*. ## ***'Relevant, terrifying and beautifully told'*** **★★★★★ What's On Stage** ## ★★★★ The Independent ★★★★ The Scotsman *This production is based on real events. It is adapted from over 200 hours of interviews conducted by LUNG as well as public documents. While it contains the representation of some identifiable public figures it is not endorsed or authorised by them.*
