About

The rock band hail from the coastal town of Llandudno. They battled their way to success, busking in car parks and competing in regional contests before finally signing to Communion Records in 2013 and later Island Records. Since then, Catfish and the Bottlemen have been present at many of the UK’s best festivals and have won a 2014 BBC Music Award and a 2016 Brit Award. The group of four found more fame after signing with Island Records. They released ‘Kathleen’, which in April 2014 made it to top spot of MTV’s hottest tracks of that month.’The Balcony’ also received success as their first album, ranking in tenth position in the UK Albums Chart and certifying silver soon after. Their second, ‘The Ride’, made it to number one, and ranked in top three of the US alternative and rock charts. Since forming in 2007, Catfish and the Bottlemen have come along way over the years. Despite changes to their original lineup, they have remained on the track to success and are set to continue with more tours and material on the way. The band’s unusual name derives from founding member, Ryan ‘Van’ McCann’s encounter with a busker in Sydney. The street musician who went by the same name sported a spiky hairdo and would play beer bottles attached to a wire, creating a seemingly everlasting impression in McCann’s mind.
