Eddie Izzard has been practicing comedy since the 80s, first appearing on stage at the Comedy Store in London. The comic is known for his stream-of-consciousness style of delivery that jumps around between topics, stating that it’s simply “oral tradition” and what humans do, and has even started to perform stand-up in French, German, Spanish, Russian and Arabic. Izzard is also renowned for his stance on gender, having come out as transgender early on his career. The comic regularly dresses in both “womens” and “mens” clothes, showing no discrimination between the two. To date, Izzard has been named as the third Greatest British National Comedians by Channel 4, and has been awarded the Annual Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award for Cultural Humanism by the Humanist Community at Harvard University.
