Dundee Stars

Biography

First formed in 2001, the Dundee Stars have played in a range of tournaments over the years. From the Scottish National League and the British National League to being one of three in the Elite, competing now against Fife Flyers, Glasgow Clan and other teams from the UK to become the best Ice Hockey Club of the nation.

The club’s career has arguably been linked to their rivals, the Fife Flyers. After leaving the British National League to join the Scottish National League, the Stars were offered a place in the Elite, but refused to do so without the Flyers. As the Flyers’ stadium was not compliant with the Elite League’s standards, they were unable to join and therefore the Stars remained out of it too. They eventually joined the Elite in 2010 and reached 3rd position in 2013/14. They also won the Gardiner Conference that year, and came second in 2016/17.

The Stars are based in Dundee Ice Arena, which allows up to 2,300 to witness the action. It is the fourth largest ice rink by capacity size in the country, and also hosts figure skating alongside all of Dundee Stars' home games.
