The inaugural Athletics World Cup is set to take place at the London Stadium in London, England on 14 and 15 July 2018. The team-based international athletics competition will see the eight top-finishing nations from last year’s World Championships fighting for the coveted World Cup trophy, while individual athletes will also be competing for a spot on the podium in their events. The nations set to compete in this edition of the Athletic World Cup are Great Britain, USA, China, South Africa, France, Germany, Jamaica and Poland. Events taking place over the weekend include sprint and middle-distance races from 100m to 1500m, hurdling, relay races, long jump, high jump, shotput, javelin, discus and hammer throw. With many classic track and field events set to be contested, the Athletics World Cup is sure to be a fantastic new addition to the athletics calendar.
