The sensational Japanese trio Babymetal have announced a new world tour for 2018!
The announcement comes following the death of their guitarist Fujioka Mikio, known as Ko-Gami (The Little God), who fell from an observation deck on December 30th and passed away a few days later on January 5th.
Headlining Download Festival are Avenged Sevenfold, Guns n Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Bullet for My Valentine, Black Stone Cherry and Marilyn Manson. Joining them are Volbeat, Thunder and Shinedown on the mainstage.
Su-Metal, Yuimetal and Moametal form the trio that is Babymetal, having first formed in 2010 as new wave of idol group. Their first album, the eponymous ‘Babymetal’ took the charts by storm, going to #1 in the US and #2 and #4 in the Japanese Billboard and Oricon charts respectively.
Together with the Kami (God) band the girls have dominated the metal industry and transformed ideas of music, having toured around the world several times including supporting Lady Gaga on her ‘ArtRave: The Artpop Ball 2014 Tour’ in 2014 as well as a huge performance at the UK’s prominent Sonisphere Festival in front of 65’000 festival goers.
