Courteeners, note the lack of the ‘The’ these days, have long been waiting in the proverbial wings of headline mania. Often overlooked by radio and undervalued for their musical worth the Manchester four piece have been grafting their way to stadium success.
The band’s frontman Liam Fray’s position is that Courteeners arrived at a time when mainstream media was saturated with guitar bands, a little lost amongst the distortion from peers like Maximo Park, Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand (the list goes on). Their fifth album Mapping the Rendezvous is a testimony to the old adage that the cream will eventually rise to the top.
You won’t last long in Manchester unless you’ve got some substance about you, after all, You’re Not Nineteen Forever and ten years on the scene has earned them an incredibly devoted fan base, centred around but not limited to the north. Those fans fortunate enough to get tickets for Glastonbury this summer will be able to see the lads lift the tent roof off, but that is not before a sell out fifty-thousand crowd in Manchester’s Old Trafford on the 27th of May.
Due to the popularity of the both these events, Courteeners have put on two more dates and you can still get tickets for one! Check out the details below
