The musical legend Elton John is following up news of huge stadium shows at Cardiff City Stadium and Hove County Ground with an even bigger UK arena tour.
The tour is due to hit the year after his stadium shows in 2020, visiting London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow and more, with his performance at Cardiff City Stadium confirmed to be his last ever Welsh show.
“The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will take us to many places that have meant a lot to me over the last fifty years,” Elton said, “but these UK shows will be incredibly special. The UK is home, and where my heart will always be. To celebrate some of the incredible moments we’ve shared with my British fans over the years will be wonderful. These homecoming shows will be very emotional, and a lot of fun.”
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour launched in the US in September 2018, having already performed for nearly half a million fans and due to carry on across 5 continents and 300 more shows, scheduled to come to a close in 2021.
The tour marks the end of one of the most successful careers in music, with Elton John being one of the top selling soloists of all time. He has nearly 40 gold records, over 50 Top 40 hits and has sold over 300 million records worldwide. The singer has also earned himself a spot among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Songs like Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Rocketman, Tiny Dancer and the classic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road have seen Elton John become a huge part of pop culture over the last 50 years, loved dearly in the hearts of many.
