Little Mix defy gender stereotypes in new 'Woman Like Me' video

The countdown has begun for LM5, Little Mix's fifth studio album due out November 16th and now the foursome have released the official music video for their lead single Woman Like Me

The video sees the girls come to blows with several stereotypes and expectations put upon women, rejecting each and every one of them whilst bolstering the meaning of self-expression.

It begins with what appears to be the girls locked in a prison van, clearly "unruly" and "rebellious" as they are escorted to a finishing school of sorts, where Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards are put through the motions of training to be come "proper ladies".

They balance books on their heads as they try to perfect their posture, they learn proper table etiquette and household chores, ultimately finishing with the girls going against those standards and being themselves. Some fans have theorised that the prison van symbolises adhering to those stereotypes, with the video beginning with Little Mix trapped inside them and finishing with them standing on top of the van, having risen above the conformities of society.

Speaking of their upcoming fifth album, Little Mix have previously said that it would be a completely different sound for them, an would only feature collaborations by fellow women.
