Arsenal F.C. is one of England’s most famous professional football clubs. A mainstay of English top-flight football, Arsenal has won 13 league titles, 13 FA Cups and two League Cups in its history, winning its last Premier League with the ‘Invincibles’ team of 2003-04. The club, nicknamed the Gunners, plays at the Emirates Stadium in Islington, North London. Arsenal was formed by munitions workers in Woolwich, south London, in 1886, under the name Dial Square before it was quickly renamed after the Royal Arsenal Complex which gives the club its name to this day. The club won its first trophies in 1890 and 1891 before becoming the first members of the Football League from the South of England. Falling attendances and financial difficulties to the emergence of other London clubs led Arsenal to move to North London in 1913, where the club now has its traditional fanbase. With a history boasting innovators such as Herbert Chapman and Arsene Wenger, Arsenal have a reputation for being at the forefront of English football. After sustained success in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including three league titles and reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2006, the club have receded recently since despite winning three FA Cups in four years. Now under their first new management in over 20 years, Arsenal F.C. hopes to return to Premier League glory again.
